Join us for the Chiwong Gumba fun run 5K going up to 900m to the 100 year old Monastery perched on the hill top overseeing the Phaplu town.

Join us for the iconic race closing ceremony at the 100-year-old Chiwong Monastery, where 500 monks and nuns will conclude their month-long, 11 million chants of Guru Vajra for World Peace before their major festival - Mane Rimdu, The Dance of the Gods.

Dasai Weekend and long vacation
A week after the race from 26th October, Chiwong Gumba celebrates their major Buddhist festival Mane Rimdu- where it it believed that the Gods descend to dance the dance of compassion.
Phaplu region is a great starting point for many beautiful short hikes and cultural sight-seeing. You can hike to Ratnange hill, Taksindu hill, Dudhkunda (glacial lake), bike with the Phaplu Bike Club guys or just walk to the nearby ancient Monasteries for the dose of mindfulness and Monastery rituals.

HOW TO GET THERE
By Road: There are regular Jeep or Bus services from Kathmandu to Phaplu and can take about 8-10 hours to arrive depending on the road conditions and traffic.
By Flight: Bit pricey and highly uncertain, however a scenic 25 minutes flight. Check the flight schedule for Nepal Airlines, Tara, and Shree Airlines which operates on different days of the week.
ACCOMMODATION
Phaplu is the main town of the lower Solukhumbu region, hence there are many low range to high range lodges to accommodate you during the event. Few mid-range hotels will be providing the participants special rates as a gesture to support the event in their region.

Chiwong Monastery will be celebrating its 100-year heritage this year. It cares for many children monks and direly needs better public sanitation facilities. We want to contribute 20% of our profits for the cause.
