Spend six days on the high Himalayan destination disconnecting with the outside world and reconnecting with yourself and authentic life around you.
As trail runners, high altitude training is highly recommended by the experts to increase your stamina and improve your performance in the trail races. In this camp we make sure that no matter which level of running you are in at the moment, you will get balanced challenge and a chance to experience this spectacular destination from a very unique perspective.
DAY BY DAY plan
DAY 0 MARCH 2 monday | kathmandu valley hike | camp opening in kathmandu |
We’ll wait for everyone to arrive in Kathmandu. We will be opening the camp with introduction session with the team and the participants. We arrange for a local hike on the nicest hill of the Kathmandu valley for the participants who have arrived on previous day.It will be a relaxed day and you can explore the Kathmandu temples and shop in the Thamel market for anything you might need.
DAY 1 March 3 TUESDAY | KATHMANDU TO CHAME DRIVE| 2700m elevation
We will start our day early to leave for Chame. Once we are out of the valley, the drive is very scenic and we’ll be stopping on major places for breakfast, rest and pictures on the way. The road to Chame is mainly off-road from Besiseher. This is the last point you will see the somewhat normal civilization with ATM, markets etc. We’ll stop here for lunch and any last minute transactions you might need to make. The drive to Chame from Besiseher is about 4-5 hours, though off-roads but you will be riding along the beautiful himalayan landscape which is an experience in itself. We will reach Chame by evening and get your rooms ready.We can take a stroll around the small village if we are keen! We end the day with camp briefing and dinner.
DAY 2 march 4 wednesday | CHAME TO UPPER PISANG |
3300m elevation
If you are an early bird, we will rise early and take a little stroll around the hot-spring of Chame which is known to cure illnesses with it’s minerals. Then a short visit to the local Gumba before our breakfast is ready. Post breakfast, we will form groups and start our scenic training for Upper Pisang.
At 7 km from Chame lies, south asia’s largest apple farm, Bhratang. We will stop here for half an hour for coffee and apple farm tour or just relaxing break.
From Bhratang at about 6 km of meandering scenic landscape , we will arrive at Dhukur Pokhari which will be our lunch stop.
From Dhukur Pokhari to Upper Pisang is about 2 km, which is our stop for the day. We will be staying at a beautiful wooden teahouse which looks front to the great himalayan ranges.
We will go to the 500 years old monastery in the late afternoon for the group prayer and meditation in the Gumba with the lamas.
Before we arrive for dinner, we can stroll around the Lower Pisang and Upper Pisang villages.
We end our day with experience sharing, next day camp briefing and nice dinner.
DAY 3 march 5 thursday | upper pisang to upper manang |
3500m elevation
Today we have separate route for running group and slow runners and walkers group.
Upper route is 5 km of uphill climb reaching up to 4100 m with a beautiful scene and landscape on offer at Gyaru. It usually takes about 2-3 hours for an average pace runner to climb to the top. We stop here for tea, apple pie and photographs!
The walkers have the option to take the alternative to upper trail and instead take the lower route which is equally stunning along the rising himalayas and old airstrip at Humde.
Both the groups try to meet at Gnawal Valley for the lunch stop.
We will take a tour of Gnawal Valley and reach until Braga for tea stop.
At about 3 km easy trail from Braga is Upper Manang. Our destination for the day.
After we settle down in the lodges, we will take break and meet for coffee in the evening and a small walk in the village. Manang village is fascinating and has a lot to offer for the travellers.
We end the day with nice warm gathering in the dining hall, share experiences, talk about next day plan and good dinner time.
DAY 4 march 6 friday |school race | upper manang to ice lake and back| or upper manang to milarepa cave and back|or manang valley tour
This is going to be a day full of choices according to how everyone is feeling.
We will organise a short charity trail race in the local school in the morning before the breakfast. (The day could change as per the school situation on the day).
If you are up for challenge, you will be visiting the holy ice lake at 4600 m elevation and back which is about 18 km with 1200 m of climb. This usually takes about 6-7 hours for normal walkers.
If you want moderate challenge, you can take the side detour of Milarepa cave at 4100 m elevation and back which is about 12 km with 700 m elevation. The route takes about 3-5 hours for average pace walkers or runners.
If you want easier challenge, you can take a guided tour to Tanki Manang village and nearby stupas which will be about 6-7 km round tour.
In the evening we will visit 1000 year old Monastery and have a meditation and chat session with Lama.
DAY 5 march 7 saturday | | upper manang to bhratang lower route| 2800 m elevation
Bhratang through the lower route is about 24 km from Upper Manang and is a easy meandering downhill trail through the beautiful himalayan foot hill course.
It will take about 4-5 hours easy pace to reach Bhratang from Upper Manang with tea and snack stop on the way. We will plan to reach Bhratang for lunch at about 1-2 pm.
The farmhouse boasts of being south asia’s largest apple farm and for producing best quality Fuji apples and export quality apples.The staff experiment with all the product of apples possible. Also this is the cosiest farmhouse to end the trip with.

DAY 6 march 8 Sunday | bhratang to kathmandu drive |
Post breakfast we will start for the drive back to Kathmandu along the same route that we came. We stop at Besiseher for early lunch and start our journey to Kathmandu which should take about 6-7 hours if there is no traffic on the way.
We will attend camp closing dinner if we make it on time.
DAY 7 march 9 monday | farewell! |
Farewell day for all! Hope you would have enjoyed the time with us on the himalayas!
If you are staying for the day, we offer you free guided city tour in the afternoon to Freakstreet, Kathmandu durbar square, the old thamel area and local stupas. Also dinner at one of the power places of Kathmandu in Boudhanath!

High Altitude zone
After 2500m, it is considered high-altitude zone in Nepal. The training camp will be taking place mostly in 2700m to 3600m altitude, with a choice of going up to 4600m, which will be the highest point for this camp.When coming from sea-level, there could be a possibility that participants might incur headaches, light-headedness and short breathing. Hence, we suggest you to take precaution, train well, know your hydration pattern, get medical check-up and know your body well. We have medic at all the times with us, and it will be helpful if you prior consult your personal doctors regarding the preventive medicines for high altitude symptoms.

Director and Organizer PGCoach Camp
Puri Garcia aka PG Coach is a professional physical education coach, Personal trainer, Certified Ironman coach, ultra trail runner and cyclist based in Singapore. She believed in optimizing health and performance and has passion for wellness and healthy eating.
She is a breast cancer survivor and mother of three children and known for being inspirational and caring amongst her social circle and clients. She organizes women’s fitness bootcamp in Bali, camp in Spain and came to Nepal looking for something more challenging and different as a trail runner.
Feminist at heart, she has chosen to work with the group of trail running girls in Nepal who are pioneering the trail running scene in Nepal. Due to her support, the first trail running camp was successfully launched and conducted at Bandipur in March 2019.
Organizer and operations
Preeti Khattri has been involved in trail running in Nepal since 2015. She has been the Race director, Kathmandu Trail Race Series and founder Nepal Trail Series. She is an engineer with craze for ultra running on Nepali trails. A feminist at heart and an outdoor junkie she has worked to develop various outdoor projects with clients like goheritage runs, India, Trail Running Nepal, Himalayan adventure labs and initiated projects with Mira Rai Initiative for the professional development of the Nepali trail athletes. She believes in the power of income generating projects to empower women and hence, is now busy creating business opportunities in Nepal where the athletes especially females could be hired. Joining these trail running camps are one opportunity where runners could make a true difference in the athletes’ life.
