This weekend away will offer you running/ hiking on the spectacular landscape of Helambu,forest therapy session, yoga sessions, meditation in the Guru Padmasambhava’s monastery along with well curated diet plan to truly rejuvenate you from within. Specially designed for beginners and wellness enthusiasts, we take care of your wellness and fitness requirement holistically.

DAY 1 Friday   |  kathmandu to shermathang |
2590 m elevation

Shermathang is about 4 hours drive from Kathmandu. We plan to start at about 8 AM from Kathmandu. The bus will pick you up from designated location in Kathmandu for the departure.

We will stop for a while at Gyalthum for break and community introduction.

We will arrive at Shermathang Eco-lodge aka the weed house for the lunch.

Our activities will start post lunch rest.

Today we will do a circuit of warm up exercises which focuses on posture and core strength required for any hiking/trekking or running activities.

And then take a short hike to Guru Padmasambhava’s monastery, where we will have a meditation session until the sunset. Enjoy the beautiful view from here.

We will return to the lodge post sunset for the herbal tea and local snack and take time off until the dinner.

Post dinner, we will join together for a reflective session and sound healing night session for effective sleep.
Time spent on trails is about 1.5 hours

DAY 2 saturday   |  Shermathang to ama yangri peak |
24 km | 2590 m to 3771 m

This is going to be a long day on the trails, Rhodendron forests and the stunning views of Dorje Lhakpa peak range on the way. We will be climbing the peak at 3771 m today. One way trek is about 12 km and could be intense uphill training.

We will take packed lunch for the route. Our itinerary is designed in such a way that you could experience the mindfulness techniques and forest therapy sessions that you could practice along the way.

There is no pressure for time. The slowest person also could complete a round trip in about 8-9 hours in easy pace.

After a great day outdoors, you will be welcome with herbal tea, hot soup and some local organic delicacies to taste.

We will spend the evening with light stretching yoga asanas and breathing relaxation techniques before dinner.

We’ll organise a reflective session and introduction to mantras and relaxing mantra chanting session before the bed time.

DAY 3 Sunday  | prayer with the school kids | school visit and activities| departure to kathmandu

Today we’ll attend surya namaskar and pranayama session before breakfast.

Post breakfast we will visit the highlight destination of our trip, Yangrima boarding school and join the school students for the assembly and prayer session.

We will take a short tour of the school, meet the children and take a short hike in the nearest Shermathang village.

We will meet for the lunch and farewell tea time.

Return to Kathmandu.

SUPPORT FOR YANGRIMA SCHOOL

Just one foundation manages a small charity school for the children around Shermathang. The children come from as far as 2 hours walking distance from their homes to attend the school. We want to donate part of the fees into conducting educational and sports activities in the school.

PREETI KHATTRI

Preeti Khattri has been involved in trail running in Nepal since 2015. She has been the Race director, Kathmandu Trail Race Series and founder Nepal Trail Series. She is an engineer with craze for ultra running on Nepali trails. A feminist at heart and an outdoor junkie she has worked to develop various outdoor projects with clients like goheritage runs, India, Trail Running Nepal, Himalayan adventure labs and initiated projects with Mira Rai Initiative for the professional development of the Nepali trail athletes. She believes in the power of income generating projects to empower women and hence, is now busy creating business opportunities in Nepal where the athletes especially females could be hired. Joining these trail running camps are one opportunity where runners could make a true difference in the athletes’ life.

cHHECHI SHERPA RAI

Chhechi is the first Nepali female to win the 1700 km Great Himalayan Trail Race in 2017, She is a mother of a child and a strong inspirational athlete. She is focusing on finishing her education and also guides solo women coming to Nepal.

SUNMAYA BUDHA

Sunmaya Budha from Jumla, was given opportunity by Trail Running Nepal, to race in Hong Kong where she won the youngest Asian Sky-running Champion in 2017. Originally from Jumla, the district known for the
highest rate of child marriages, she has broken barrier to come out and
win the international title.

CHHOKI SHERPA

Chhoki Sherpa from Okhaldunga, is a small built but sturdy athlete who had finished second to Chhechi in Annapurna 300 km mandala race and done couple of other ultra races in Nepal. Since graduation from Exchange and Empower program in 2018, she has got many opportunities to work as a trail running guide and trekking guide.
